I' don't know what it is but my intrest in 24 drops near the end of the season. Probebly cause the main story is mostly out of the way and they're just picking up the pieces. I've tried watching some of the old episodes that they show on the weekends but i haven't had the patience to sit and watch every single episode.

I've seen most all of season 1(missed a few hours in the middle) and part of 2 and 3 so i didn't follow most of the story for that. One day i'll rent the dvds so i can't see what i missed.

Now to the season finale this coming week. Come on, this is NOT the best season by far, but look what the season finale has from previews:

Evil Chinese dudes, a deranged Zefram Cochrane, Jack Bauer is even MORE angry... Chole tries to commit suicide (guessing) and culminating on an Oil rig that's gonna blow up!!!

Now I see the writer's meeting:
Ted: "Where do we take the last 2 hours..."
Jim: "How about some oil rig?"
Ted: "Isn't that sorta random?"
Jim: "No, Jack's father owns it. Or the Chinese or some dude. C'mon it's an oil rig! And we'll blow it up too, while Jack's on it."
Ted: "Hell yes!"
Jim: "Oh lets have Chloe try and drown herself because she cant stand to be without Morris."
Ted: "Stupid B****"
Jim: "One thing though, everyone knows Jack will live and ended on a cliffhanger with him last season so, he needs to get rescued somehow."
Ted: "Dolphins?"
Jim:...Dolphins!!!"
*Ted nods in satisfaction*
Jim: "One last thing, does Chloe live?"
Ted: "Stupid B****!"
Jim: "Okay but does she die or live? I think live."
Ted: "Yeah agree."
Jim: "Then we'll kill her first episode next season 'cause that's what we do to stay "fresh" and "anything can happen"."
Ted: "By dolphins?"
Jim: "No no... TERRORIST Dolphins!"
Ted: "Hell yes!"

No dolphins. Finale was... sorta lame. I mean predictable. And how did no one notice the helicopter in and out? Anyways... definitely MUCH set up for next season... I mean heh. Almost too much so lol.

the BEST part was the very end. When Jack goes a little Manchurian Candidate at Kellor's house.

Really, cool scene I mean, wasnt sure what Jack was going to do. Then end outside, sun rise, looking out to sea. Really great fresh scene for his Character among well, a really terrible finale imo.

So here's hoping this was like Phantom Menace of 24 seasons and next season is a fresh, cool one and even though obviously will happen not take place in LA. I swear if another terrorist attack is there, I mean wtf. And if CTU keeps getting invaded... change freaking locations.

Really 24 needs a new setting, that's what was wrong this season they fell back on the same crap. Yeah still exciting and fun, but...

Honestly they need something much different next season I couldnt stand a similar one as this season minus a few great moments and (I just love Morris sorry love that he joined cast again. Pwns Edgar.)

Just my cents I love 24 but it needs a makeover somehow. Characters fine, Jacks great as always. But... I couldnt stand to watch another season of the same crap spun a different way. Rogue Jack, CTU compromised, a mole... disagreement with President... another mole. Jack is on team again then suddenly Rogue again... everyone tries to stop him they cant Jack gets a Rogue ally... Jack saves the day... big whoop.

Really. It was a formula that worked great until now. And can still work in a different way, new city... new threat, maybe more personal. I dont know. Just now so predictable and thats what happened beggining of last season they realized this so they killed off all the main characters of previous seasons lol.

Obviously LA is where they shoot, cheapest. So almost cant change so I pray for a real fresh season somehow...

Maybe they can get some Dolphins. Or Manatees. They're also a marine mammal.

Yeah, I agree.. needs a new setting. I really liked the season where Jack went undercover in the Mexican/Latin American cartel or whatever.. hehe.

Jack has had a terrible relationship with CTU since way back.. off and on.. so I don't understand why he can't get a job working for someone else and do his thing from another angle or something.

They need to seriously change something.. it's getting old like you said.. same old formula.

Good Idea Zu. Hopefully they will they have to. Im sure Jack will though go into some security business maybe make his own team or something makes sense. I mean doubt he's going to become a school teacher...

LOL I can see Jack running security at a corporate building...that would be great!
