Anyone know when League City was first started?

If I remember correctly it was about 8am the cities went live. What ever day that was, years ago.

I know...not the most useful answer...

I have the exact email of this! =D Being the First Mayor. Or at least did... next time I'm in game I'll fish it out. That was one crazy night. Sadly I think only Kellor remains and myself in who was there (that uses forums plays!) We had to set the city hall down twice actually.

So LC was built twice! Anyways I remember that night well. It was crazy and stressful... I'll post the info here =D

I think it's comming back to me. I believe servers were down all day so it was evening CST. I remember the city hall going down near cerebus and then we moved it to it's current location. Then Otko wanted to name the city something silly.

I remember the day the city went up clearly, though i can't recall the exact date. It was the same time mounts came to the game that much i know. Either mid October or early November, does SOE still keep records of when the past patches were released?

If the city went down the first day cities went live, I believe the date was November 13th, 2003.

Red, if you are looking for a very old in game e-mail, I think it is doubtful it is on your toon anymore. If you do have it, I am even more doubtful you will be able to read it. (not because you can't read, because all mine were inaccessible, and now are totally gone).

Given the brouhaha we went through that night, it would technically be the DAY AFTER the day cities went live as it went past midnight to get the 2nd freaking hall up thanks to the wonderful folks at Cerebrus (yeah they made our Hall =/)

And Otko actually did name it for 2 weeks, Samarkand. IS the silly name you are referring to Kellor as he had to be the Mayor in that time (some buggy stuff with cities). Then I retook the Mayor and renamed it League City as the popular vote among LXB for city name. All except Otko agreed that Samarkand was silly (although it's some mystical or historical city name).

And so... LC began it's beautiful journey into existence. I reigned a long time. Then Keonti joined our guild, a man woman not sure which but the craziest member we've ever had. Literally, psychopathic. Think Glen Close in Fatal Attraction when we tried to boot her from the guild =/

The ONLY thing IT did that we're all grateful for was bring Deex into the fold! Poor sucker =D

Ironically enough, Samarkand is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.

It's the second-largest city in Uzbekistan.

A decent name for a city to be sure, but I would have had to cast my vote for League City as well. Much more fitting for the "League of eXtraordinary Beings".

They (SOE) started purging old emails a couple years ago. It was sad because I had some oldies too. That does not discount the posibility that Erisk can't read though...

And if I had known Otko's idea for the city name was what it was I wouldn't have thought it was so silly.

I will take credit for adding League City to the list of potential names for the very reason Yfy mentioned. Our fine group could never live in anything less than something named after itself.

So we can logically assume then that League City was started on November 14th.

That's perfect! We can incorporate something to celebrate our anniversary into Funfest if you guys like or have some kind of party on that actual night.

Funfest will be right around then.. probably the weekend following the 14th.. 16th-18th (assuming Chapter 7 is live by then).

I really think we should do something though whatever the case. I'll leave it up to you guys that were actually here then and got it started since that would be much more appropriate. I'm glad to help

well here my idea..we all head to rori and hunt squalls..
a huge pile of dead bunnys..in the middle of LC..we all stand around
it likea huge campfire throwing a broken compass into theheat...

at the end we can only hope that a hole to him will open and we can get him back

(if more come outof that hole it would be nice >.<)
