Another SOE MMO that I guess is going live Jan 7 2008 with pre-orders available currently. I may give it a whirl once it comes out but will see when the time comes, just wondering if anyone else has looked into it or not.

I was, (am I suppose), on the beta. I aven't played it in a long while, but it was ok. Based on Sid Myer's Pirates. Lsts of quests. Most stuff takes place in towns. You sail your ship between towns dring which ime you can be attacked by other factions/counties and pirates. Ship battles are done in a different sort of instance type battlefield where you sail your ship around fighting. All ship travel and battle is done from an overhead view.

I didn't get too far into it. Not enough to form a go opinion, but I guess it was ok. I did ship battles, and sort of diplomatic type quests.
I stopped playing when it switched to a sony account for no reason other than I had just left Vanguard and was bitter.
Guess maybe I could try to load it back up if I find how to download it again. I lost it all when I reformatted recently.

So before I get caried away and post screeies and run my trap and stuff, I need to remind myself that I am still covered under the NDA.
I did reload the game. If you would like to play, I would suggest that you go sign up for beta. When closed beta ends and open beta begins, I'm sure they will be taking on lots more testers.
When it does end, (sooner rather than later), I'll post pics and stuff if you want.

I'll be giving it a try either way, it looks and sounds alot like Voyage Century which is a free to play MMO. I like the totally player created economy concept (or so it states on the web site) Till then I'll wait for it to hit the shelf here in the sticks of N.E. Ohio.

I'm going to throw this out there because I think it is an excllent review with all the info people are looking for, and violates nothing:
http://www.whitewolfclan.net/pobs/review.htm
Ya, please don't let my totally unfair early termination of this game in any way sway anyone. I was only explaining my lack of play time, which had nothing to do with the game itself. The game itself actually has alot going for it.
(and obviously i got over my soe issues as i'm back in swg)

well it looks good.. my only point.. i dont like that ppl can attack u when they feel like doing it.. i mean that limits me when i just want travel around.. to look all 5 min on a map if i am far away from a pvp area or a section where i could get attacked.. again.. the game looks great.. but that "forced PvP".. no.. i need to read up more on that

Look forward to reading this. THey have to have some non PVP stuff forcing it limits many players who dont want it.
That Wolfesite has GREAT info. Sounds like a very fun game... at least to try out. However, only real issue I have with it is grouping, no real info there they say only you captain your ship, so assume grouping is group of ships but itd be cool to have someone come on board your ship, esp ina raid against another vessel, group of friends board it fight together. I suppose can do this in a fleet and just come onto your target ship from each respective vessel...
Anyways better than I thought. Interesting choices and factions. Obv most ppl will go Pirate BUT Naval sounds cool as a different play style. And Free Traders your merchants/crafters. And Privateer good balance.
Also what I like it has many EVE elements that are good, but BETTER. Yeah you looking to get bigger better ships. And only you capt. yours. But have a real crew can see interact, and are an avatar and can GET OFF your ship and partake in land based missions! That's a great thing!
Anyways def gonna keep an eye on this more! Be cool to have a League of eXtraordinary Pirates! Arr!

Here's a quote for you nobody
"It's possible, of course, to completely avoid PvP by simply sailing safely around and skirting the PvP unrest/contention waters, which are visually displayed on the world map with red-shaded circles centered on the ports in contention."

That won't be the case. Pirate are an "nation" and have their own ports if nothing else.
I do share your same concern about forced PVP, and spent all day today playing it to test some stuff out, and feel better about it, ( and had a pretty fun day). I'm a little unsure about what I can and can not discuss, (I'm always a little whako like that with these things), but I'll give you the full scoop soon, real soon.

WOW! I didn't think i'd be interested in something like this at all.. until I read that entire breakdown of the game you posted the link to Yfy. Personally, I think it looks like it could be a lot of fun! A nice change of pace and a different genre than all this fantasy tripe they keep throwing at us lol. I'm willing to give it a try...

Well, maybe Yfy can spill the beans on guild structure, but just from a quick look, we might have to choose between British, French, Spanish, and Pirate if we get this going as a guild. I'd be willing to give this a whirl, especially since I think it will be on the Station Access Pass, so I can still play SWG.
