Hey all!

Had a quick question. I'm looking to buy the game sometime in the next week and I had some questions about minimum/recommended system requirements.

I'll be running the game on my laptop that I bought before my freshman year of college in 08'. It has a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 duo processor, 4GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (512mb) graphics card in it. I realize that it's not going to run things at all the highest settings but I'm hoping it will at least be able to hold it's own.

So are any of you running the game on a low-mid range system such as as mine? If so can you enlighten me as to how the game runs on it?

Thanks!

You can try this for starters:

However, if your laptop doesn't pass the test it does not mean that it will not run TOR... but it gives a nice barometer to kinda go by. I'm betting that if your laptop has any issues with the game it would be due to your vid card.

I used that little program linked above when I first beta tested TOR on my laptop and it did not pass the test because of my poor vid card. I was still able to play the game though with all settings set to minimum. Wasn't the best game play experience but I could play. Your vid card is much better than the one I have in my laptop so, based on that, I'm pretty sure you will be able to play TOR with what you have.

Only thing that should hold you back is that video card, as the 8600 was never meant to be a gaming card. However, with the rest of your system, you should still be able to run it, just won't have all the eye candy.

Video card is the key to that system. My specs on my desktop aren't much better aside from video card. I have 4 gigs Ram, a good dual core processor but my video card is a Radeon 6850. mid-range card, but, makes a huge difference can run on nearly all high setting smoothly.

So I agree you can play it, but not low-medium settings. The only thing you'd need to upgrade is your video card with that laptop really. Lots of good deals for better cards as the newer cards start to enter this year.
