as it seems.. well .. we no longer have to search for a new city

In response to requests from our players we are offering a limited time opportunity to move any characters on identified servers to a designated target galaxy at no charge. We believe that by offering a Free Character Transfer Service (CTS) in this manner we can address the concerns we have heard players voice with respect to server population. It is our hope that those of you who are looking to move will take this opportunity to do so beginning on January 13, 2009, and that this will bring with it a fresh sense of excitement and enthusiasm that will extend across all the galaxies.

Free Character Transfer will begin at 12:01AM PST on January 13, 2009, and will only be offered to those accounts with characters created on or before December 10, 2008 at 11:59 PM PST on the identified galaxies listed below. Again, the only way to qualify for the Free Character Transfer is to be on one of the identified Free Character Transfer servers and move to one of the targeted galaxy servers and this is only available on a one-time/once per character basis. The Free Character Transfer service will end on March 31, 2009 at 11:59PM PST.

More Details

Effective January 13, 2009, and ending on March 31, 2009, the character(s) you have active on the identified current "transferred from" galaxies* listed below, that were created on or before December 10, 2008 at 11:59PM PST, may be moved to one of the destination servers at no charge*. This option will be available on a one-time/once per characterbasis.

The current "transferred from" galaxy servers include:

* Corbantis
* Europe-Infinity
* Intrepid
* Kauri
* Kettemoor
* Lowca
* Naritus
* Scylla
* Tarquinas
* Tempest
* Valcyn
* Wanderhome

The valid destination galaxy servers include:

* Ahazi
* Bloodfin
* Bria
* Chilastra
* Eclipse
* Europe-Chimaera
* Europe-FarStar
* Flurry
* Gorath
* Radiant
* Shadowfire
* Starsider
* Sunrunner

Free Character Transfer Service Rewards – Available to Transferred Characters that Meet Free CTS Requirements
In the spirit of galactic friendship, all characters who move to a valid destination galaxy will receive a relocation gift of a painting which when "examined" will carry the name of the transferred character and the home (transferred from) planet on it. Only characters who transfer to a valid destination server as part of this promotional free character transfer service are eligible to receive the painting gift.

Along with the painting, players who transfer to a valid destination galaxy as part of the promotional free CTS will also receive a gift box which can only be used as a gift to give to a waiting welcomer on the new galaxy. Once the gift box is given to another player, it can be opened to reveal the same painting received by the transferor but with a new inscription which includes the "welcomer" recipient's name and the moving character's name and home galaxy, as a "thank you" for their warm welcome of the newcomer (the inscription is only visible when you use the "Examine" option to view the painting).

It is in the spirit of peace and friendship that we offer these gifts and hope that the goodwill that comes from sharing these gifts will spread across the galaxy like the stars overhead.

We want your experience with Star Wars Galaxies to be the best possible and look forward to seeing you in your new home galaxy!

More details on this promotion will be released in the coming days and weeks.

May the Force be with you!

To qualify for the Free Character Transfer the character must have been created on or before December 10, 2008 at 11:59PM PST. All characters must be transferred to and from the same Station account.
* Your character must be located on one of the original 10 ground planets at the time of your transfer request to perform a server transfer. The original 10 ground planets are Corellia, Dantooine, Dathomir, Endor, Lok, Naboo, Rori, Talus, Tatooine, and Yavin 4.

You will be notified via in-game message that your character qualifies for the free character transfer service opportunity when you login. Eligible characters may also enter "/freects" to begin the transfer process. Only one character may be transferred at a time. Please read and respond carefully to each question and answer entry you type. All Character Transfers are considered final and cannot be reversed.

* Character transfers from one account to another are not part of the free Character Transfer Service promotion.
* The Free Character Transfer painting that a player who transfers to a new galaxy receives, is available immediately upon completion of the character transfer and will be available as a reward (and can be claimed) using the existing /claim reward interface. The reward will appear in the character's inventory when it is claimed. There is no limit to how many gift boxes and painting(s) a character can receive and both items are tradeable. The inscription is only viewable in the viewer's Examine window.
* If you attempt to transfer characters in violation of these rules, the Terms of Use for Star Wars Galaxies or the Rules and Policies (for instance, attempting to transfer characters from another person's account or to or from an account purchased by or for you for another person on which you are not the original registered user of that account), the characters will not be moved, your request will not be processed or approved, and your account(s) will be subject to review and appropriate disciplinary action taken.

ok LXB if we are goingto get a plan together, now is the time. if we are going to move, lets do it as a group. hopefully we wll get lucky and be able to start our new city in the new galaxy. if we don t want to move then lets make plans for that. a populated galaxy would be a nice change to what we have right now on intrepid and since it s marked as a galaxy that folks can leave it s fair to assume that alot of folks thats are left here will be leaving. if we are going to move we should decide where we are going and make the move asap. that way we woupld at least have the best chance of finding the best place to settle. bloodfin has been mentioned as a top choice to move to. i agree though with the feelings expressed already. if we are not goingto move as a group, then ehats the point really. lets get together and talk about it. :)

Greetings LXB,
Yes the news is out and Intrepid is on the moving from list, for what ever reason, not that it matters on how SOE came up with the list.

I ahve posted in a thread on the Intrepid forums to get a discussion going with other Intrepid guilds to discuss the options as a server, it would be nice if all or most of Intrepid decided to move to the same server.

LXB has been growing again and we have been able to maintain a wonderfull group of people, I hope that we continue to grow and can come to a common decision as to what we are going to do when teh time comes.

I am not happy with SOE's list but it is what it is, lets make the best of the situation and maintain our "family" no matter where that takes.

Ill be around for discussions both here on the SWG forums and in game.

Deex

I am pro moving. Now that Intrepid is a move from only server, it will only get more dead. There are people already on the forums set on moving, and I think we can all agree we want an active community to be a part of. As for where we move to, it doesn't really matter to me as long as LXB moves together. We move together or not at all in my opinion.

Greetings LXB.

Qitu has mentioned that Shadowfire may be a good candidate for a move, if anyone wants to go check it out and provide feedback that would be great.

Just to let everyone know we will make a decision on where to move as a guild, im going to go to any meeting on Intrepid that i see and can attend to see what the server has in mind.

Ill be there to represent LXB but I will not make any decision with out the guilds backing, ill pass on all the information to you all.

But in the end it will be what the guild decides and not so much what the server has in mind.

We have a bit of time so we are not in a rush to do anything.

hi all. i made a character on Bria, Bloodfin and Shadowfire a couple of days ago. i went to eisley, theed and coronet. the starports and cantinas and the area around them only so far. i understand bria is a PVP so i ll leave that one off. i was at all 3 around noon on a weekday. bloodfin had a loaded eisley cantina with probably 30 or more but coronet and theed were mostly deserted with just one or two in sight at eather SP. shadowfire had a few in the mos eisley cantina and both theed and coronet were mostly also deserted. i m going to go back today (saturday) and talk to some folks and take a look around when it should be the liveliest. hope this will help.

hello again. ok i visited bloodfin and shadowfire today (saturday) around noon once again. the spread of folks was about the same thorughout as the weekday. i spoke to a player on bllodfin named Aecita in the guild LOD. he told me the PVP there was mostly reb controlled due to their overwhelming numbers there. he did say that PVE and instances were easy to get into and alot of folks were active in both. I did notice that SF has a guild city on Dant on this galalxy. i guess it s where they moved earlier. i dunno for sure. i also talked or tried to talk to a jedi in coronet but he did nt like spies and was pretty rude, even though i attampeted to explain to him what i was doing and how a spy was handy at looking arond without getting agro. oh well. i was after all only lvl 5.
on shadowfire i spoke to Akkoo, who was unguilded. a lvl 90 that was very friendly and helpful. I again explained what i was doing and he told me he had a toon on both bria nad bloodfin. he said that the difference between bloodfin and shadowfire were that on bloodfin the friendly folks were about 50/50 and on shadowfire they were 70/30. from my limited experience on bloodfin that was the case LOL. he also gave me his Main characters name, Contico and said to contact him with any other questions we might have. i did nt get the guild of the his main character if he was even in one. hope this little lbit of info helps too. :)

Okay i checked Ahazi and Sunrunner-

Ahazi - PvP and some friendlies, lots of people

Sunrunner - 50/50 and same populationwise as Interpid

I also hit Shadowfire because it was the first server I played on once I got the game, the people there were very nice and it looked balanced.

Greetings LXB.

In response to the Server move dilemma.

I have been following several of the server move threads, and im not impressed so far.

There was one that suggested rolling a dice to decide on what server to move to and they did and the result was SS, I know several have said that SS was not appealing to them.

There are other threads about creating 2 Intrepid guilds one a new server one Imp and one Rebel, this option has no appeal to me, this seem to be PvP driven, which I know some of you are into but not a majority, this also dont keep guild together.

My wish is that we stay together as a Guild "family", so we will continue to weigh the options before us.

I will say that even though I wish we all stay together I hold no ill will towards anyone who wishes to follow the masses of "Intrepid" you must follow your heart and decide on what is best for you.

Ill keep the discussion going and hope that everyone partakes in the discussion and the decision.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

ok so from watching the forums, people are saying no to Bria and Bloodfin most often. The consensus is that the populations there are entirely pvp oriented and full of rude individuals and leet speakers. In fact one person actually mentioned us specifically, said "lxb wouldn't like those servers. I personally don't want to risk this. I would be all for Shadowfire or Starsider, I hear they are both full of pretty nice people, I just want a good sized, friendly population, so whichever is more populated of those two.

My preference is Shadowfire. I used to play there a lot since 2003 to pre NGE. I still have a char there (but will delete her if we move there).

A lot of the original Serenity guild had alts there. I was in a guild and a city. But the NGE pretty much killed off that one.

Anyway, I have gone back time to time when I needed a break from Intrepid drama. Shadowfire is still a lot like Intrepid in community in the game and on the forums, the economy and balance of playstyles and nice people.

I am biased, but I think it would be a good fit for our guild. It's a low/medium population server and I think we'd fare better there and be able to make an impact rather than be lost in the crowds of a heavy server or following the herd.

Also, it looks like some of the other guilds that are not pvp oriented are looking at Shadowfire too.

Anyway. That's all I have to say. Whatever the majority chooses is fine with me.

Were ever we go we won't be able to set up a city probably till after the housing purge, so please don't rule out a server based on the avalibility of putting up a CH

To possibly cut down on the ever increasing "What's Chilastra like?" threads and answering the same questions. If I've got something wrong let me know and I can edit this.

Economy/Marketplace: Most consider the economy on Chilastra to be pretty healthy. There's a decent number of crafters of each type to keep the prices of most goods down. It generally isn't hard to find a crafter who can make what you need. Rare items and other loots tend to be reasonably priced as well, with a few usual exceptions.

PvP: As you might see on Activeframe, Chilastra is currently the top PvP server. As you'd expect from that title, you can usually find PvP within Restuss at pretty much all hours of the day, although you're obviously not going to get huge battles in the wee hours of the morning. Battle sizes can vary, but in prime time it's not uncommon to have 60-80 people in Restuss.

That faction in charge of Restuss seems to vary from day to day at the moment, so I'd be inclined to say it's somewhat balanced. Of course, the current balance situation shouldn't be relied on too much as this will likely all change once the transfers start arriving. Currently, most PvP seems to happen in Restuss with the odd skirmish happening at the GCW bases or somewhere inbetween.

Player Cities: Right now, all planets are capped so you shouldn't move to Chilastra expecting to be able to start up a new city, at least not quickly. Cities do fall off from time to time so I wouldn't say you'll never get one and there is the packup event happening soon after to the free transfers which will likely clean up some of the planets. I'm sure there are also some mayors here who would be willing to accomodate your guild if you're in need of a place to call home.

Heroics: For the most part, these tend to be run within guilds/groups of friends although I do know of a few that run pickup groups on a regular basis. You should expect to find most people with 5 peice sets in PvP so if you don't have them yet, you may want to consider working towards them.
